Celebrating International Woman's Day

Yogi Sutton

3rd March 2012

Womans's World Day of Prayer is a worldwide movement of Christian women of many traditons who come together to pray. Initiated and carried out by women in more than 170 countries and regions bringing together women of various races, cultures, and traditons.

Through Woman’s World Day of Prayer, women affirm that prayer and action are inseparable and both have immeasurable influence in the world. Women are encouraged

·        to become aware of the whole world and no longer live in isolation

·        to be enriched by the faith experience of Christians of other countries and cultures

·        to take up the burdens of other people and pray with and for them

·        to become aware of their talents and use them in the service of society

Using extracts from various religious texts, we will also explore three simple questions:

·        What do women have in common?

·        What role does faith have in our lives?

Am I a hindrance or a help to my neighbour?

Prayers were prepared by various countries over the past years, this year it is Malaysia’s turn and the title is: Let Justice Prevail.
