Praying with Poetry, Art and Music

Annie Bromham IBVM

7th July 2012

The aim of this workshop is to encourage people to find new ways of praying through the use of art, poetry and music. The pattern of prayer for many is to read a text, followed by a period of reflection on it - leading to contemplation, in which they are open to the touch of God. The way we appreciate art or poetry or music often follows a similar pattern, sometimes giving more time to the text or work of art, sometimes more to reflection on it and at other times sooner into contemplation. And so it is that your love of poetry or art may be your way to God.

No particular skills or experience are required; it could include people who have no artistic expertise and at the same time would be of interest to accomplished artists.
