Spiritual but not Religious? What does this mean?

Over the past couple of decades, the meanings of “religious” and “spiritual” have shifted considerably. The workshop explores this shift and what factors might have led to it, as well as providing some tools for reflecting upon what “spiritual” and “religious” might mean for the individuals participating.


About the Facilitator

Brendan Callaghan is a Jesuit priest and psychologist who has combined his main mission of teaching psychology of religion at Heythrop with retreat work, spiritual direction, and workshops on various topics where psychology can assist our growth as people before God. After nearly 30 years of living in the Jesuit London formation communities, he now has the care of the Jesuit community in Oxford at Campion Hall.
